Parent Reviews
"My child was diagnosed as dyslexic and had tested severely below grade level for many
years in reading and comprehension. Janel listened very well and is able to use
assessments, parent guidance and student feedback to craft a plan that was just right for
my child. She was also able to reassess during their work together and modify when
necessary. She is a good communicator.
She helped motivate and encourage her, even crafting a Taylor Swift themed lesson for
her once. My daughter also liked sharing stories about what she was up to and was
motivated by the stickers :) She is now a more confident reader and during last year's
school assessments tested at grade level."

"Before we started working together, my child was facing major challenges and frustrations with spelling and decoding words.
Janel works hard to differentiate instruction among her students so each is working on the exact goals they need to succeed. She is highly knowledgeable in the Science of Reading and is always finding ways to make things fun for her students so it is not just paper-and-pencil learning. My kiddo went from having scores under the 20th percentile
rank to the end of 6th grade scoring on grade level for the first time since 1st grade!
(And they loved the skittles! ;)"

“Bryson struggled with reading for several years and was diagnosed with dyslexia. When we started with Janel, he was reading at a kindergarten level. He is now reading at a 3rd grade level and continuing to grow. He enjoys playing word games and reading short stories.
Bryson is more confident now and tries to sound out words he does not know. With Janel, you would have the best tutor. She is tough but fair and gives brain breaks when needed.”
